    • This is my first live published site, I have a few in development that are a little more complex but not done yet. But Thank you RocketTheme for the newest template which solved a lot of design issues I was having with the development of this site. It is a simple site just for an Entertainment company that wanted to post events, pictures, and sell tickets.

      http://www.AmbienceNC.com

      Components Used:
JomSocial - Just for the Events (Will use the social aspect once more traffic comes)
QGalleryPro - For Facebook Album Integration
      jNews - For Newsletters

      Modules Used:
Facebook Slide Likebox - Ajax Sidebox
      RokMiniEvents - Linked to JomSocial
RokGallery - Just on the front page for a nice slider
      RokTwittie
Social Media High Detail - I'm only using the images from this module with custom HTML to fit properly

If you have any suggestions, comments, or ideas please feel free to post. Thanks in advance

    • Nice job, Fred. A couple things...

      1. The EventBrite frame is too small. Makes for a weird page.
      2. Use the Joomla Contact component instead of exposing email addresses (to spambots).
      3. The frontpage header is taking up a bit too much real estate for the logo.
      4. Start the music in the Off position and let people turn it on if they want it. Think about the person who may visit this site while they are at work or somewhere where the music is not quite appropriate.

Congrats on a good start into website design.

      Best wishes,
      Rae

    • Thank you for the feedback.

      - Eventbrite is a temp solution for the time being - I want to custom code in a purchase button into JomSocial to link to the ticket sales and get rid of EventBrite wrapper all together
      - Good idea, I'll change that tomorrow
      - The header, yea thats something in the theme i need to figure out. It adds extra spacing on the top and bottom of the module area
      - The music... if it was my site I would. But the client wants the music playing. I've pointed out to him that most people get annoyed with that. But I'm taking into consideration the demographic he's targeting.

    • Good job Fred. Keep on going!!

I do agree with Rae that frontpage header is too big. But also I miss web site logo on the rest of the pages. It is weird not to see the logo (even if smaller) on the rest of the site.
There is algo a very big gap between "newsletter suscription" and the rest of the info in every page except frontpage.
And I would also recommend you to align UnforgiveN logo on footer to the right.

Playlist seems not to be available in my country, so I cannot say anything about the music!!

      Bests,

    • Thanks Juanjo

I didn't even notice my logo wasnt to the right, that was an easy fix.

Negative Spacing - that was the breadcrumbs section, I had the facebook Slidebox put in that. I moved it to the copyright section, thats the least noticeable area for extra space.
Contacts - changed it over to the contacts form
Header - I've had issues with the header, if I make the image any smaller for some reason the theme will distort the image and not keep its aspect ratio. So I'm semi stuck with it being at that height. I wanted to make it thinner, but I had to put that as a side project since it wasn't a huge deal.

    • On template.css, line 57 it says:
      #rt-feature-spacer {height: 60px;}
I would try to reduce it a little (maybe even down to 0px) to minimice that weird space. Just an opinion, of course. :)

    • Why don't you downsize your logo to fit into the preset logo area in header-a instead of using the showcase area? That should nicely solve the issue.

      Rae
