    • Hi,

This is my first Joomla and RT website and I'm quite pleased with it so far although I have a few queries that you might be able to help with. First I should say thanks to James S though, who has constantly thrown ideas my way although he didn't know what for! Cheers to you and everyone else who's indirectly helped on these forums - couldn't have done it with out you. OK, shmoozing over! Details below:

      Website URL: http://www.designersales.co.uk/

Additional Extensions: PerForms, Security Images, JCE admin, RokSlimbox, RokSlideshow, Joomlaworks 'Simple Image Rotator', Ezee Logo

Custom Development: Changed template header and button style.

Other Features: Mailing list sign up form called in from another website - client likes this bit.

Any specific areas of my site that I'd like feedback on, if any: Does it work in your browser. I've tested on a Mac in Safari, Firefox and Opera and on a PC in IE, Opera and Firefox in various versions. Client was in a rush to go live so just had to hope others weren't too badly effected.

      Additional Comments:
      1. I am not sure that I am using Joomla correctly (ha ha)! The Read More buttons at the top of the pages should open the new content to go accross the whole page but instead they sit under the slideshow and next to the competition (homepage anyway). I am baffled by the choices of what a page type should be in relation to the menu links and modules. This is effecting the way the site works and I'd like to change it. The demo of Versatility III makes it work how I want it to. More practice required I think.

      2. In the Global config of Joomla under SEO, if I change the Search Engine Friendly URLs: to yes and rename the htaccess file all the links didn't work. Am I doing something else wrong?

Let me know what you think.

      Cheers

      Chris

    • nice menu hover and active styles :) . the problem you have (1) is that you have published your modules to all the pages. go to the module manager, click on the slideshow module, and then in the right pane or the resulting page, select only the home page. do this for other modules you only want to appear on specific pages. not enough information to pinpoint the second problem (SEF). good luck with the site. geeez my enter (return) key seems to be broken.

    • Thanks for the suggestion but this is where I think I have set it up wrong as the modules are set to single pages already. The slideshow is set to 'mainmenu | home' only as is the Competition module but both remain when a 'Read More' link is clicked in the 'Newsflash' module on the Home page.

I have created content sections and then categories and then items within the categories. Most of this is then linked to by the mainmenu links but some content is a module. This is where it seems to be getting confused - me included!
