Youth Group/Ministries site - Simplix - Opinions appreciated

I posted this in the "simplix" forum, but maybe this is a better spot for this sort of a question/site submission
I'm the (hopefully) soon-to-be youth pastor at my church, which apparently includes "webmaster/builder/designer" in the title (not that I mind). So, I'm using Simplix for a new student/youth ministries site, and I've designed some icons in Fireworks to go with the site. I really love the faded image reflection look, so I'm trying to use it a bit.
I've put most of what I've done on the front page - basically some image buttons and web feed icons to color things up a bit. I'm curious how the effect comes off - cool? overdone? just right? good, but not with this theme? I'm also curious if I need to fade out more of the reflection, if that makes sense. I applied the effect to the "student ministries" text in the logo, but it was just a bit busy, so I took it out.
Any comment/opinions appreciated. There isn't a lot on the site as far as content - just the basic framework.
Thanks in advance!
- Brian

Ha - yeah, well I guess we'll have to assume people don't take it the wrong way...
On the main church site - make sure and visit
mrmbc.org/comingsoon
, and not just mrmbc.org. I haven't spent NEAR as much time on the youth site as the main site.

OK, I found the "make your buttons look glassy" fireworks tutorial from the rockettheme blog, and I've gone glassy-button-crazy. I changed all the buttons to the glassy look, and reduced the opacity of the reflections. I really like the change now - just subtle enough.
