I tried removing the extra height statement and still show the same issue.

I noticed that when I refresh the screen, for a split moment the subpage on the left moves up to the correct location, but reverts to the lower position.

Since you are really using the standard horizontal menu, try switching the indents to Joomla Defaults in your menu module. If that works, just replace the default Joomla bullets (indent#.png files) with 9X9 blank gifs or pngs.

    • I'm trying to figure out how you got the main menu bar to extend to each side, but I can't nail this down.

      Hint?

See James S.' initial post (the last tutorial) and my subsequent post (reply 9) for information on how to stretch the nav bar and my fix for IE6:

    • Scott,

Normally not a fan of nursing sites *but* your's is awesome!. Good choice of replicant with the background. Very professional. Thanks for sharing that link with us. Keep up the great work.

    • Scott,

Working through your site looking for a) inspiration and b) technique, I noticed the menu bar at the top of the page. I wanted to use one of these to maintain consistency with my old site and hadn't really noticed the top position in replicant.

But, on the home page it's below the news line, and between the bevels.
On http://www.mccn.edu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=113 it swithes to the top line the replicant default.
Guess that's a configuration problem somewhere, or and error with your background switcher?

[edit] just worked it out - one of your news items is long so it pushes the menu down - if you keep refreshing the home page it's ok until you get to one particular article - but I felt it was still worth mentioning! [edit]

And your left menu fonts look great in Safari, but not very readable in firefox on a mac imho :)

      regards

      Gareth

    • Top-notch work! 2 thumbs WAY up! I am humbled. :-[

This is how a template-based site is done, Kids. Take note.

I am amazed at how little customization some people do for paying clients... ???

Thanks for your critique Gareth. I'm currently working on some PHP to trim the top news article titles at the top after a certain number of characters. Some are not fans of the font-variant and I have not tested in FF on mac. I'll test it out and perhaps make some corrections.

Thanks pete. It's easy to customize templates when the programmers are so skilled in ensuring all details of the templates are perfectly organized. I'm currently working on a project where the Joomla template was created in-house and it's going to take me 4-6 weeks to get it to the level of a RocketTheme template. Kudos to RT, these guys set the standard for Joomla themes.

    • Agreed. RT are WAY worth the $.

I haven't yet had to ask about any CSS tweaking here, because I can ALWAYS find the spot in the code to fix it! :)
