Hi all this is my site, I decided to stay with the current style of template Metropolis
Over all I'm very pleased with the out come of it all, I have a lot more to do but that will come later after I do some more reading, this has taken me a couple of days to get it this far.
very pleased with the template and the people who created it, seems to work well on most of the devices I have tested.

I think it's nice. (and I do like the windows 8 look)
I do have some constructive criticism...
As RedRum points out, the loadtime is really pitiful. You should look into issues with your host. I remember when I was with GoDaddy they put me on a server with 3000 other websites. Always be mindful of that, and look for a quality host that won't treat you like cattle.
Of course it may be something else entirely (as you mention). Regardless, it deserves immediate and thorough investigation. Look at the stats on how quickly the average person will abandon a slow loading site, and you will see it's not something to take lightly.
Second, and lastly...
Make this site your own. Everything is out of the box. It needs some customization. Templates are great starting points, but RT is the biggest in the business... meaning you're likely to run into other sites that look exactly like this one unless you create some custom graphics, set your own colors and fonts or even just re-arrange some modules.
I like it though. You have really nice photos and it makes me want to visit. - Show Support for These Requests...

I don't have a host, i run my own Linux server here have done for many years
as to the speed I'm downloading a fair bit of gigabyte right now, it gets turn off during the day my time and the site should speed up, and at night when I get back from repairing PC's all day I turn it back on, how ever I have viewed the site from work and the loading time is a little slow, I wonder if that is the theme it self, or does it preload every thing 1st then throws up the page, I haven't done any thing else apart from change some text and images so the theme is as I brought it, is this a rockett problem with the template ?
I do like it, its nice

I run the same template on my VPS, and it's lightening fast. It's in development too, so nothing is being compressed. RT has a cutting edge framework for CSS, so it's probably not the template. I think you have this all figured out, it just sounds like a temporary situation due to your DL.
If you still want to implement some crunches and your site is no longer under development visit your global configuration, under server. There you will find the option for G-Zip compression and Caching options (if memory serves). - Show Support for These Requests...

Funny cause I did a speed test after I turned the D/load off for the day, some site said it was 11seconds to load, don't know if that's OK or not
