Go to the website and save the full page - look at the html code and css/js files. That's how I started.
or you could just use the joomla kwik menu module... you can find it at the joomla extensions site (free) or a version with more features at ninjoomla.com (requires subscription though). The ninjoomla one also works in vertical mode. - Say no to Internet Explorer 6.
