    Mine Rat Minerals - Paradigm

Posted 9 years 10 months ago
    • URL: http://www.mineratminerals.com/

Additional Extensions: Virtuemart (VM) + various VM display & functionality extentions

Custom Development: Added a "random background" in the rt-showcase (refresh the home page a few times to see). Lots of VM overrides.

Additional Comments: Not much else... Just sharing b/c I was looking at some other Paradigm sites listed & they all seem so different.

    • I took a look and I have to admit that you have a nice site, although, personally, I would avoid using cartoon looking images on the pages and I would replace them with the images of the real people instead

    • Hi Jim,

Nice job on the site. A couple suggestions:

      1. The logo needs a little more work. It is too simple and doesn't portray the company's image.
      2. The button colors throughout the site don't seem to have any congruity. Try to choose one color for the entire site's buttons and links to add harmony.
      3. In the shop, the item details is a bright green which doesn't blend well with the site. You might want to make that area transparent to match the website.

    • Hey Rae!

Funny, you and I think very much alike, as those are specific items I brought up as well. However, as with most clients, the client has particular goals/situations that drive some of these things.

Their logo is actually based on a picture of a famous old mineral specimen from a museum (which they now own -- the mineral, not the museum). We did tweak it a little, though, as I'd suggested that it really didn't look like a rock oriented as it originally was. Also, it had the tough job of needing to look good on both dark and light backgrounds, as those backgrounds change page to page. So, we added some lighting... 'twas a tough case for sure!

Same for buttons... I origianlly had them all in a single color scheme, but I think they preferred specific colors depending on what type of functional button it is (e.g., a "more info"-type button as opposed to a CTA-type button, etc.).

I forget why we went w/ the green in the shop... perhaps just to stand out a *lot*.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. :-) Hope all's well @ Aplonis!
      -Jim
