    • Greetings here is my take on a black version of populous. Still using demo content for testing. I just joined RT a month ago, and new at moding Joomla themes. This is my first.

      http://waraor.com

      Built it in 1.5, but had some CD GJ issues so redeployed on Rocket Launcher Base /w 1.0.13.

      Notes
      * Consolidated module hilite image requests to single directory. I had custom module frames for each hilite, but the image sizes/http requests were killing me, and therfore my visitors load times
      * Batch converted some big gifs to smaller Png's
      * Changed almost all graphical elements in forums, groups and populous main theme
      * replaced and optmized some forum images

      Still working on
      * CSS and image consolidation
      * Working on offloading image hosting to poor man's akamai, too many calls to my VPS. Still need to find poor man's CDN. If anyone knows a globally load balanced image hoster please let me know. I can be more liberal with my image use than.
      * More optimizations

      Thanks RT for a great template.

    • Looks awesome. Hope you don't mind, but the work smart, not hard philosophy might be in effect.

      Gonna use some of your image mods, but will change them to make them unique. ;)

    • sure be my guest, after I clean up the code and the mods and optimize the template, I will create a package. I also have the source PNGs if you need them.

    • What template are you using for your forums? I like the clean layout and the icons.

      I simply grabbed the PNGs and made the needed changes. I need to modify the module header images now.

      Work in progress.

    • I just downloaded the Fireboard theme for populous in the RT members downloads and hacked the heck out of it.

      Blue folder and people icons come from 207.218.240.244 which is the Corllete e107 downloads website. These are released under creative commons license. (registration required)

      But mostly I hand recoloured the icons and reworked the CSS in 'Fireboard theme for populus'. Never working with Joomla or FB before it was a lot of trial and error. Then running link checkers to make sure I did not have any 404's or CSS errors.

      Keep in mind the FB theme for Populus does not contain properties for everything so you need to alter some default CSS in FB and Populus theme too.

    • Think I have finished the editting for now. Might try and optimize image weight, but got memcache installed and working so all is well.
      Now moving on to next mod!
