    Good web practices - Colormatic

Posted 16 years 10 months ago
    • Hi everyone,

We've recently launched our website Good web practices:

      http://www.goodwebpractices.com/

We've used the Colormatic template and are running Joomla 1.0.1x. We've customised the template quite a bit and are using a number of extensions...

I'd really really appreciate any feedback and welcome all positive criticism!!!

      Thanks! :)

      David

    • Good site...even i could make the font more smaller of this way the frontpage could not be too longer.
      Regards

Thanks for your feedback! I think you make a good point: our homepage is a bit too long at the moment... I'll need to find a way of making it shorter.

We've gone for the big font to be accessible and also to have that web 2.0 feel.

      Great comments, thanks very much!

    • I like it! But, please remove the modules, and maybe change it with a fullwidth description of your site. With a nice image to the right.. You can move the modules to the bottom.

    • Thanks for your feedback too Nick!

Mindtooth which modules should we remove? The side ones or the ones on top?

    • Just something similar with the demo . Use an image, and add some text to the left or right. Whatever makes the site looks best. But the modules is so back-in-the-old-standard-mambo-days. Maybe move them to the bottom.

    • which module class suffixs did you use for the modules on the right hand side? I couldn't find any documentation for the customization. Was it something custom you added to the css?

    • Ok thanks for clarification MindTooth! I guess as I wasn't here in the standard mambo days I'm not feeling how old and standard the modules actually look! Thanks for the tip! Actually if you click on any page other than the homepage the modules shift to the bottom so maybe that is enough???

Nick, I added the custom hilites on the right. It was a bit of an effort but at last it works. I used the bentobox hilites and the tutorial about moduleclass hilites on tutorials.rockettheme.com. IMHO moduleclass suffixes is one thing colormatic really lacks.

    • Dave, great site. I always troll this forum to look at what others are doing with RT templates and just poke around; this time, however, I am actually going to do some real reading and check everything out...good stuff, sir.

May I ask: what are you using for your SEF URLS? 404 or Artio? I see a bunch of sites using these, but typically see the end of the URL tail to be /content-item-example/ ...rarely see them with the .html extension, much like the URLS J1.5 is now generating. I need to stick with J1.0 for now, but favor J1.5 for the upcoming phpbb3 bridge and the URLS. ;)

Again, very nice...will take it for a good, long test drive....
