    Another Gaming Community Site

Posted 16 years 9 months ago
    • Thought I would throw mine out there. It's a gaming community site in the sea of other gaming community sites. I've spent months monkeying with various templates and couldn't stay with one long enough because they just didn't look right or incorporate everything I wanted to. Finally found one that I think goes great with the spirit of the site. I've borrowed heavily from other gaming sites I've seen on these forums i.e. Massivefps.com, stargateworldsgame.com, etc. So, just wanted to give them some credit.

      www.game-nerds.net

I'm still working out some kinks on the Internet Explorer side of things, but the mod team has been helpful and patient with me while hammering those out, so want to give them credit as well!

    • It works, you probably clicked on it when I was trying to fix something for internet explorer. Feel free to check again. ;D

    • Just an FYI: The site looks hideous in IE6.. I'm sure it's really nice on other browsers, but I'm at work and IE6 is all I have to run with right now. You may also want to implement the pngfix plugin on the site for IE6 browsers. That seems to be why it is looking so scrambly..

    • I just implemented some changes, let me know how that works for you as I don't have IE6.

    • still having the png issues. I think the pngfix plugin is built into Dimensions, but I could be wrong. What program are you using to edit the logo? I think it's an issue with how IE6 renders the transparent background of the logo, because the only time this ever happens is when the background is transparent. All of the other PNGs in the template are fine.

    • Hmmm....well I had downloaded the pngfix plugin anywho, but I guess it didn't take. I'm using Photoshop elements 6.0 for a majority of the images on the site.

That's probably what it is. I would use Fireworks. You can download a demo from their site, it's 30 days unlimited. It seems to export a very high quality PNG, if that makes any sense. Whenever I use photoshop to edit a PNG file (with a transparent background), I get the same outcome that you're having for IE6 users. IE6 is a huge POS, but that's what so many people use. I would give that a try and it may help out.
