    New Fitness Site using-Hyperion

Posted 16 years 9 months ago
    • Website Url http://www.theforumfitness.com

Additional mods com etc... I have used quite a lot of components. hmm let me remember: AEC, coppermine, cmpfetch, highslide, mxcomments, frontpage slide show, visual recomends, community builder, and there is more can't remember them all of the top of my head. oh yeah I am using syret video in the subscription part of the site, a good video component if you are looking for one.

Customize: I have had to do a fair bit of customising to get all this stuff working the way i needed it to.

Additional Comments Would love some feed back, this is a subscription based site so there is a lot of stuff you cant see unless you sign up. "That's not a plug for you to sign up LOL" unless you want to of course. ;)

    • Very nice site! I noticed a few of the Links to Les Mills produced an "Operation Aborted" error in IE7 when I clicked on the path "Our Services > Classes > Les Mills > BodyJam", however it worked fine in Opera. Refreshing the link in IE7 however was successful after a few attempts. This is the link: www.theforumfitness.com/index.php?option...cle&id=73&Itemid=130

I actually manage a Lifestyle Family Fitness health club as my 9-5 job (Atlantic is our club name) and we have Les Mills at our facility too (here's our website, www.lff.com - it's not a RocketTheme site though). Again, I like the layout of your website.

I have one question though, and perhaps it was an oversight, but where is "The Forum" located? I found the club's hours of operation in one of the lower modules on the home page, but no where could I find the address, city, state or country of your health club. Prospective members looking for information about your club, who may be planning to visit the facility, will need that information. Perhaps a "contact information" tab somewhere in the upper modules on the site will work well.

Oh, and when I did a search for the word "Location", it found the word in the "Terms of Service" page, but I also saw the "Module Variations" 1-7 with lorem ipsum and discription sample text in the upper and lower parts of the page. Make sure you unpublish those. ;)

Nice use of the Hyperion template, and lots of interactivity. Keep up the good work!

    • Hi James (Skip).

You know what, you are completely right. You can get caught up in the design and forget the pertinent information. I.E where is the place! I appreciate that. The IE7 operation aborted is something to do with the Javascript code in the Les mills widget. I did have it on the front page but had to take it off. IE7 does not like Javascript I think it is when having, 2 sets of Javascript on the page it does something strange to IE7. I have not had enough time to check it out completely That is on the to do list.
It works in Firefox, Opera (as you have found out) and safari. With IE7 only having about 26% of the market right now I am not to worried about it. Although it defiantly needs to be fixed

Thanks for the kind words about the site though. I still have a bunch of work to do to it. Adding content and such. My wife is actually the Les Mills instructor she has been doing it for years. Body Pump and Attack is her main forte.
      She runs the whole program.

We are in Salisbury NC by the way. The schedule is actually hooked into google's api and the Map will locate the building. But that is not so obvious to someone who wants to find it quickly.

Oh yes your site looks good also! you using Joomla? Or is it pro-priority. I see you have hooked into google to, the maps are awsemome.

      Thanks again
      Guy
