    • I love your homepage, and i have a few questions
      1. what are you using to get the nice little dates by the titles on the homepage
      2. how did you get a small image for stories on the homepage and larger image when you click on "read more..."

Very cool though and I would like to know more.

Big Red Buddha is published by a guy named Miso out on the West Coast. I wrote him, but he didn't answer. I think I can take a stab at your questions, though, having looked at BRB pretty closely for a Mobius project I'll launch next month.
      1. what are you using to get the nice little dates by the titles on the homepage

That I know: they're using the calDate extension. I've tested it on Joomla 1.0.10 with global registers disabled. Works fine, though it fails with the global cache enabled. It also conflicted with something else I wanted to use -- I can't recall which extension -- so I won't be using it. But the effect is nice, particularly for a blog-style setup.

      It's here:

      joomlicious.com/index.php?option=com_con...=view&id=4&Itemid=25
      2. how did you get a small image for stories on the homepage and larger image when you click on "read more..."

I'll be copying that technique. It's just Joomla layout. The stories on the front page are all set to display their intro text. You edit a small graphic for the front page, and drop it in the Intro Text field (float left or right with some sort of margin) in the compose window along with a teaser line or two. The large image and story text goes into the Main Text field. I suppose you could make the small image clickable, but there's really no point.

On Big Red Buddha, the ReadMore link is supplied by their comments program, which appears to be Jom Comment Pro. The standard ReadMore link will do the job just fine, though.

I use Jom Comment on my personal blog:

      moreminimal.com

Mobius is a superior template. Hope Rocket does a matching SMF theme.

    • i'm not sure if it would fit but instead of using 120x600 for hte google ads try using 160x600 ... gives greater exposure and fits the space better

      but nice site

    • I like Jom Comment. It's surely the most painless of the Joomla commenting solutions these days, and the developer, Azrul, is quite helpful and involved.

You're welcome, but I really do deserve my forum "newbie" label. ;-)
