    • Dear rockettheme-Team,

thanks for the fantastic template and all your great and quick help here in the forum to get the website up and running! The refraction theme and colors perfectly fit the topic of my little travel related website revolving around islands and oceans. I couldn't want more!

Contents are pretty scarce so far but please have a look, I'm open to suggestions:

      www.reise-inseln.de

There is one question I have, but perhaps not so important: How can I make the logo appear as H1 (similarly to what you you have here at www.rockettheme.com )

      Cheers,
      Peter

    • I was really excited when I Heard "Travel portal". but like you said the contents are pretty scarce.
I was interested n what extensions and add-ons you would have used to make the portal functional.
      Will keep following your site.
I have never used refraction, but I think you should edit the index.php in you template folder. Just wrap the H1 tag around the logo.

    • Hi there,
thanks for your feedback and showing your interest! Yes, please keep checking back, but I would need a couple of months to write some more substantial content ...

      Important extensions I use:
      - rokstories
      - rokbox
      - rokbridge and related phpBB3 stuff
      - BCA RSS syndicator
      - Joomla Tags
      - Jumi
      - Googlemap (by Jan Sangill)
      - JCE Editor
      - Xmap
      - Plugin SeoSimple

I'll try your suggestion to wrap the logo in H1. Thanks!

    • I'd translate "Home", "Blog", and "Forum" to the language for the site if there's an qquivilent in your language.
    • Thanks,
      jim

    • Hi JEM,

I'm dutch and also in dutch this is Home, Blog and Forum, I think in german it's
the same. We use many english words in the modern lanquage!

    • Yes, we use the same words. Thanks for pointing it out, anyway.

    • Thanks for the reply Peter.
So its basically not yet a travel portal(judging from the extentions) or are you using Jumi to get some "booking scripts' to work on the portal

And about the H1 do not forget to edit the css file. That is add a style for H1 that is only for the logo. I think you might get some extra padding/margins around the logo.

    • Hi rawraj,

well, we perhaps have different concepts or ideas of what a travel portal should be or look like. Anyway, what you find are editorial parts:
      www.reise-inseln.de/reiseziele.html
      www.reise-inseln.de/blog/beitraege.html

      A community part:
      www.reise-inseln.de/forum/

      And booking parts, for example:
      www.reise-inseln.de/suchen-a-buchen/schnellsuche.html

The booking stuff has been completely implemented via deeplinks and iframes (the latter giving me some headaches) provided by a German cooperation of travel agencies. They also offer the same via XML, but at this point it is not feasible to implement them for a couple of reasons (lack of time being the biggest reason). There is an iframe plugin for the JCE editor that I'm using.

Again, thanks for your hints and apprecitiation!

      Peter

    • Hi Peter thanks for explaining with link. Yes the concept is different from what I had in mind. It is interesting nonetheless.
I use JCE editor too. After seeing how you have successfully implemented the booking via the iframe plugin, I think I will also do the same.
Keep us updated best of luck :-)

    • While I know because you say it is a travel portal, not because I can read the language, the site doesn't say Travel Portal.

If I ran across that - I would think it is just a plain site. Yes, I know it is in a different language from English, but it should pop out and say or speak in the universal language - I am "Travel"! :P

Right now it looks like you live next to a light house in some always rainy cost line and are a fisherman sharing his cold gloomy days on a web blog. Well, that is not particularly on my first thought of travel...nor a lot of people's. So, who are you catering too.
