    Horse Web Site Using Mobius

Posted 18 years 2 months ago
    • hi everyone,
I have been tweaking this site for a while for my family's gaited horse business.

How is the page load speed for everyone? I think my shared hosting with godaddy is SLOW during peak hours :-[. Fast as heck early mornings and late nights, but server timeouts in the day occasionally. Suggestions for GREAT Joomla Hosting Welcome. Comments and suggestions welcome! Thanks.

    • Speed was fine to begin with, then it ground to a halt after a few clicks. :-[

I'd agree, the behaviour of the problem appears to be do to shared hosting.

I'm seeing the same issue, except not quite as bad, with the site in my sig. That's on the imhosted cheapo plan.

My other business site is on a more expensive UK host, shared but NOT slow. That's Joomla! too.

      The host is: www.4dhosting.com/hosting/linux.asp

Don't know if that host is any use to you, since you're not in the UK.

    • I agree as well...a little slow after a few clicks around..... After months of research and 30 day trials of other hosting companys...I stayed with Bluehost......I have been using Bluehost for a few years now and they keep getting better and better.....and you can't beat the price for the features you get...I highly recommend them. They just did a major upgrade to their infrastructure and the speed has never been better....... www.bluehost.com .

NICE Site! Lots of information available!

let me know if you see any issues with speed on my site www.xone3.com

    • Thanks for the feedback!

I just wish I didn't have to switch hosts- what a pain in the butt. I've got a Digicart store wrapped up with the site as well, so I'd be moving 2 large databases, as well as tons of files. Im afraid that once I get all the files and databases moved and do a dns switch, the store may somehow malfunction, and I will be accountable for a few days worth of missed sales and future returning customers which can be big bucks for us :-\

Your sites loaded quick for me! Nice layouts as well.

    • You can try a couple different things here regarding your host:

      1) Stay with the host you currently have but express your concerns about speed, etc... and the fact that you may be missing out on sales and repeat customers due to slow page loads and ask if you can be put on a server with less load and/or more robust server. Mention, respectfully, that you are looking into alternative hosting solutions. They may give you what you want to avoid losing your business.

      2) In regards to migrating your data to a new host. Contact the new prospected host/s and inquire about data migration services....most are willing to help in this area to gain your business and word of mouth advertising. They may even do a test migration to verify data integrity.....ya never know. May be worth a shot.

      Giddy-up!

    • As said, seeing if your existing host can fix it for you is less hassle then moving to another host. You may get lucky if they look in to this for you.

    • Hey,
I took the advice of politely calling tech support, and they migrated me to a new server. Can whoever reads this check out www.gaitsofgold.net and see that the site is loading WAY FASTER than it was.

      Let me know.

    • DEFINITELY seems much faster! I clicked around a good amount and no slowdowns! This was during peak times as well!

      Happy Trails!

    • The site loads quickly and looks great. Like the textured leather background. My only suggestion (and you may already have plans for it) is to change the header color/img.

Nice job on the site. The horse business is demanding. My family raised Paso Finos for almost 20 years but sold the business and horses a few years back when when my parents divorced.
