WaterPortal.org was originally founded in 2001 under "Hydronet.org". It is a platform for researchers and actors within the water industry to share, inform and publish everything that may be of interest to their fellows.
The first version used PHP-Nuke, then we moved to MDPro a few years ago and now Joomla (probably here to stay ).
I haven't modified the RT Carbonation theme, apart from adding a few .js scripts found in other themes from Andy with more or less sucess. It is the first time I've ever bought a theme for a site and I'm very impressed by the quality of the theme and scripts Andy (and this community) did. Thanks all for the good work and friendly atmosphere!
Cheers
Seb
UPDATE (May 2007):
I've just swapped over from Carbonation to Versatility III. I started working on adapting Colormatic for my site, but then Versatility III came out with a similar style and a few extra features so it made more sense.
The reason I swapped is that the site now feels more "academic". I also intend in the short term to develop the "learning" section of the site and the web 2.0 in this template makes it more accessible and user-friendly. So I hope anyway ...
Let me know if you have any ideas / suggestions, it will be most welcome!
Last Edit: 17 years 10 months ago by Sebastian K..
I've added a "sliding" toolbar at the top (click on "Connexion /\ Accessibility" in the top blue bar).
Does anyone have an idea on how to integrate it better with the rest of the template?
Ideally, I'd like to move the User menu up there as well, but I'll have to figure a way to template the menu before lol!
Great site!!! I like the "connexion N accessibility" thing (yes a very techincal term) at the top. The decision to make it black is a great one in my eyes, it does not take focus from the template itselfs and its almost bland effect fits in nicely!
Just a great choice of template, it fits in perfect for your website purpose! ;D
Would be quite happy to bundle all the scripts I've added as an extra for Carbonation if anyone is interested (and can explain to make it into an "install" friendly pack )
Not sure if it's an issue to you or not, but on my laptop with 1024 screen, your site scrolls off the right hand side slightly, forcing the scroll bar to appear at the bottom. It's a personal thing, but thought I'd point it out. You might want to use a fluid width or slightly reduce it.
Other than that, looks good, good job and there is loads of content and details on there. Good luck mate.
I believe the screen resolution is ok now, at least down to 1280x1024.
I found a good website for this if anyone is interested:
