Logo Coloring Help?

    • I was hoping I could pick some of your brains and ask for some help with this... I've been staring at this logo for the last couple of nights but I can't seem to get it to look quite right. :x

I decided to redo my old logo for Dominion with the "BN 3rd Place" font that came along with the template, but unfortunately I'm unable to use the "Photoshop Live Effects" filter that the Fireworks logo source uses. The text just doesn't look quite as sharp or as nice as it does in the demo, so I was hoping someone might be able to re-save this Fireworks 8 logo I did in a newer version of Fireworks with the filter effect on? Here's the logo:

I've played around with the coloring of the logo quite a bit, but I finally decided that the black & white text gradient is probably the best thing to use for the logo's "Die-Hard Gamer" text. What do you guys think?

Finally, is there any chance someone has a few logo-suggestions for me? I was originally trying to put the "Die-Hard Gamer" text on top of the logo in some way like I used to way back when (and when I could afford to make the logo much taller), but for the life of me I couldn't find a color or a style I really liked, thus I retreated to the side-by-side style you see above. This is what I had been playing with:

      Thank you! :)

    • What graphics editor software are you using? You do not require Fireworks to change graphics files. Once unzipped, you can change any graphics file with pretty much any graphics editor you use.

      To utilize the custom fonts:

If you are using Windows, copy the unzipped font files supplied with the template to C:/Windows/Fonts folder. If the font is not already installed, it will do so automatically.

Most graphics editors pick up every font in that folder. Once you install the font,
        open your graphics editor
create a new file using any dimensions you choose
        select the custom font
        create your text
add other graphics element if you want
        save the file
over the logo.png file (usually located in yoursitefiles/templates/nameoftemplate/images/logo folder).

After you have saved your custom logo,
open the template.css (located in yoursitefiles/templates/nameoftemplate/css folder)
replace the height/width dimensions in the Header Section
        save the file.

If you want to skip altering the template.css file, just create your graphics image with the same height, width as the one that came with the template. You may also select auto-size in the Admin area if it is available for that template.

      Hope that helps.

    • I was using Fireworks 8 which is not compatible with the "Photoshop Live Effects" filter. So far I'm liking CS5 quite a bit. :)
