Need Help customizing Vortex Template

Hi All,
I am quite New to Joomla and have been task to customize the Vortex Template to look like the following in the document below.
www.sbntv.tv/sbntvvortextemplate.doc
Can someone point me in the right direction or where I can find information on how I can do this.
