I'll post my 1st nominee to get us started:
- Michael Jackson's "Beat-It" (Guitar Solo by Eddie Van Halen)
As odd as MJ was, He created some really good music in His time. This song and guitar solo was so far ahead of it's time, that it still stands today as one of the best-of-all-time!
I look forward to others posts (I'm sure that Andy will post a couple of Iron Maiden's licks).

Hendrix - Pick any song he ever played. If I had to narrow it down to one album, I'd say the Band of Gypsys import. The only other guitarist who ever came close in terms of raw skill was SRV.

so many. First one popping in my head this morning is Jeff Beck in Happenings Ten Years Time Ago (Yardbirds).
Solo is specific, separate from riff and overall work/skill/talent. And favorite is different from 'best', as I can say that Hendrix might have been the best, but my favorite is Page. A favorite solo could be in a plain song by an 'ordinary' guitarist, but the solo just touches you in a certain way.

Definitely a subject/debate that could be "endless" with no-resolve.
I agree with every Artist listed... But if I had to go to "One single guitar solo" and the impact it had on the song.... I have to go back to Eddie VH solo in "Beat-It."
From the Riff that is the basis of the whole song, to the Awesome Solo.... it is just the best I've ever heard!
