With all due respect, I believe that the statement, "Joomla still has it's place. It's easy to install, load a template and build a site. It's a great toy for the beginner webmaster." is a bit elitist and somewhat of an insult to the many advanced webmasters that use Joomla!. (not saying that I am one of them)

To those that prefer Drupal, all the power to 'ya, to those that prefer Joomla!, all the power to 'ya.

      Cheers!

My apologies if I offended anyone, it came out wrong. What I meant was Joomla is great for the newbie webmaster because of it's ease of use and fast deployment. Even a beginner can build a great looking website quickly and easily, yet the experienced webmaster can still make great use of it.

It's a tool. Just like a PC, a software program, a screwdriver. You use the tool that suits your purpose. You don't use a screwdriver to pound a nail, you select the right tool for the job. Joomla serves me well on the sites I use it for. For some of the advanced projects I am working on I'm using different tools.

    • Soo... I've been out of the loop for a little bit. Would someone mind telling me whether a tentative release date for 1.5 has been announced? Is there a best guess? Or has development slowed to the point where it's best just not to ask the question? :/ Thanks all -

    • Dang! I hope there's some truth behind that rumour. August works well for me.... I'll be building a site with VM around that time. And the stable of the new VM will be released after J! 1.5 I hear. eeeek. I can't wait!!

    • Hmm... August would be good, although of course tomorrow would be great... Should we place bets?

    • I'm reading this thread.. what more can I say ;)

Joomla is not loosing momentum IHMO, however the apparent delay of 1.5 does help to fuel the conspiracy theories etc.

Notice the IHMO << is the spelling twist the web version of crossing one's fingers behind one's back??

      j/k :)

Good to hear that xyzulu, though a hint on a date would definitely stop the theorists :)

    • seen a couple of threads on this subject, and I can assure you 1.5 is very much a reality, if you look at svn at all you will see how much has gone into it, and still does on a daily basis. I think you'll find something a bit more public and therefore probably more tangible very soon.
