    • Well when I first started using Joomla, it was daunting
      All complicated, like learning an OS
      But it's quick to pick up and create great websites
      Granted, im not the best user, but ive management more than what I can normally do
      One of the great things of Joomla

      One of the things I do is look at the demos and see whether they look 'cool'
      So they may be a great program that can be customised to look good out there
      but ill go for the crap one that looks good

      I didn't go for Drupal coz it looks boring
      But I certainly don't regret going with joomla
      looks great works great

      Does all I want
      So no need to change

    • i think the problem is just that everybody got excited about joomla 1.5, and there seems to be no visible progress in the development.

    • The cook at Joomla.org are slow-roasting 1.5. We shouldn't rush excellence.

      I've seen other hurry to update and release a competing product, but the bugs and workarounds are galore - nice if you're a coder. But, I, for one, don't mind the Joomla.org folks takling their time to get it right.

      Now, if development has stopped, how do you explain the fast launch of the new forge? They were really on the money there. I think things are getting done, methodically and we'll be glad that the work has been put into it. Patience, my friends.

    • I figured the launch of the new forge was a prelude of anticipation for the release of 1.5 and the new third party extensions it will spawn.

      And if I may add to that, - also still has the same basic CMS features missing from core;
      * no improvement in ACL to manage user permissions
      * SEF is still nowhere near as good as it needs to be (item ID in URL needs to be removed)
      * Content version control - non-existant

      Those to me are essential features missing from core product.

      Have to agree, all these and much more are available in Elxis cms which is a fork of Mambo 4.5.2 if I am not mistaken developers of this project where with Joomla before starting Elxis so if they could do it why not Joomla we have to wait until Joomla 2.0 for these feature i.e. 2009-2010

      Very interesting - I didn't know about another fork.
      Had a look and noticed the improved ACL, but can't see anything regarding SEF url's or content version control.
      Plenty of other enhancements though ...
