    • hi all,
is there a simple way to hide a text name from search engines but not from humans?

EG: Joe Bloggs handed his notice in.

Other than exchanging the name with an image I have no idea how to do this.

      Thanks in advance. 8)

    • Hi Rich,
Just Joe Bloggs would be sufficient. I want to learn how to protect names on my site for privacy reasons without having to require users to register to see the info.

    • RedRum,

With yahoo you can do it with
      <div class=”robots-noindex”>Their Name</div>
      or
      <div class=”robots-nocontent”> Their Name </div>

Not sure if Bing respects this as Yahoo results are being supplied buy bing though...

For Google that's a bit harder. Unfortunately, the only way to guarantee it is to use an image. I seem to remember Matt Cutts in a video pretty much all or nothing in regards to a page.

But you could ask on the G Webmaster forums and see if they have a better answer.

      Cheers,

      Rich
