    • With the value of the pound against the dollar it must be nice for you guys in the UK if you can find a US host that works for you.

    • Well this seems pretty good!
When does the H9 thing run out?
Because I might have to wait a day or two

    • They always run some half off the first month special so no rush.

    • I use dreamhost too.

But I will be moving to a friend's hosting service soon.

Dreamhost is great value, but I have had a quite a few issues with performance.

Yeah you really do get what you pay for in the hosting world. I have a heap of my smaller clients sites on Dreamhost (the ones that don't want to pay much per month and who understand there is a bit of downtime) Bigger clients I always put on dedicated servers.

    • I have to agree with the comments on Dreamhost. I have been with them for almost a year and my Joomla sites are just not very snappy. I have tried the accelerators and tried the various techniques but it is really no major improvement. My non-Joomla database sites are fine so I don't know what exactly it is but I am ready to try someone else. I also have had a nightmare of a time with e-mail and getting Spam Assassin working for all my clients. It is either too strict or too lenient. You end up having to dig through the trash folder all the time to make sure it didn't grab something legitimate. I have changed MX records on one of my sites and pointed it to a Google account (Google apps for your domain) and that has been stellar in terms of filtering the junk and letting the good stuff through.

I am really disappointed with the Joomla performance though at Dreamhost. But...I cant justify Rochen right now --- been spoiled by Dreamhost on bandwidth, storage and low price compared to a basic Rochen multi-domain with only 3 domains. I am interested in Hostgator and watching this thread about hostNine -- regarding a lower cost reseller or just another crack at a multi domain plan that would hopefully run my joomla sites right out of the box at a decent speed.

    • Out of curiousity, what are people looking for in, and how much are they willing to pay for their hosting?

A friend of mine has just kicked off his own hosting company with his own servers, If we could get a streamlined idea of what people want, I might (no promises at this stage though) be able to convince him to put together a Joomla based account, with a deal for RT people and their clients.

    • Personally, I'm thinking about Hostgator. I'm an happy customer and I think the reseller plans will be cool too.
