its quick on firefox for me (in Englkand too) but I did get an internal 500 error once so maybe theres a problem with the server set up? I didn't get it again so maybe just a 'blip!'
If your sites bottoming out your probably on a shared host with someone beating your server to pieces with traffic or getting attacked in some manner. You can ask to be put on a server with less of a load.
Thing of shared hosting is your sharing the server, so if you have 150 sites on there and they get poop for hits your fine. But if you get on there with 5 that are killing it with masses of traffic then your site suffers from it cause they are choking you out of RAM, and processor. Same reason if someone on your server gets DDOS attacked your site moves like poop.
I've beat down 84GB a month of transfer on one of my sites that had no downloads but lots and lots of hits and therefore lots and lots of other things like db queries and other things i cant remember what all they were but at any rate it made the server suck for the other peopel on it, so my host told me i had to move to dedicated cause i was too much for shared hosting and it was preventing other sites from running efficiently. Perhaps your host can look into it and see if thats whats happening to you, and if it is they can move you, or the site thats choking out yours.
Thank all for checking on the site! I'll check with our IT guy on the speeds from this end... it's improved from :31 to over a minute, and erroring from time to time when I wrote the post. now it's about :22-:25 from here in Detroit. If it's not IT here I'll check for a better host..
if you are on shared-hosting, you will experience inconsistent load times as Gerald mentioned. On shared hosting, you have to wait in line because you share an IP address with about 150 others shared hosting sites.
One thing you can do is check and see if your hosting company offers a dedicated IP upgrade. Usually pretty cheap and worth every dollar!
