Can someone help in making RT Vortex header more user-friendly?
Posted 17 years 11 months ago
I want to offer a modification of the RocketTheme Vortex template for specific business uses, but I would like to make it easier for inexperienced users to set up the header on the website. I understand that it may be possible to do the following two things, but I would like to see if anyone is interested in doing the work, with an idea of how much it would cost. This would be for Joomla 1.5, when it becomes stable.
If there is a way to do any of this easily now, please let me know.
1) Modify Vortex to allow end-users to choose one of several defaul photos or graphics for the upper left portion of the screen -- where the Rocket Theme logo is in this site. My first choice would be to be able to do that through MediaManager, so people could choose one of the defaults or upload their own. My second choice would be something set up in html, similar to the choice of menu, with 4 or 5 pre-set photos or graphics to choose from.
2) Using the Suckerfish menus, (leaving more room at the top), allow endusers to set up their business name, in a choice of fonts and sizes -- more than Header 1, Header 2. See
www.detlielawfirm.com
as an example.
Time frame is flexible, since Joomla 1.5 doesn't look like it's coming out in a stable version any time soon. If it's possible to set this up for more than one RT template, that would be even better.
Please feel free to contact me off-forum, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are interested in working on this, with an estimate of cost or a request of more particulars.

If the users will have access to the back end, you could just put a Module position in the two places, then put up a slideshow manager or two to display pictures automatically in those locations.
