How to convert PDF into flash type flip book

Posted 14 years 6 months ago
    • Hello,
I was wondering if anyone know of an extension which could convert a PDF document into a flash type flipping book ?

Currently we have a 15 page pdf document (which is received weekly from our graphic designer - created in Quark) and we would like to publish this as an electronic book on our site. I have had a look at some on the joomla extensions but none seem suitable. - there is one which would require each page to be converted into an image file and then each image uploaded to the componenent. - which would be too time consuming.

I also noticed the 'flipping book' module has been removed from the joomla list.

has anyone else had any experience of this or doing something similar?

      regards

    • There a couple good ones out there, I've seen a few mentioned here, too.

(I'll see if I can find a link here.)

Google 'flipping book', or seach the JED for flipping book, or search this forum.

    • thanks JEM.
although most of them will not accept a PDF. they want me to convert each page of the document to a JPG image. - which will take too long.

unless you know of a way to quckly convert each page of the pdf document into an image file.

this one seems to look the best:
      extensions.joomla.org/extensions/directo...tion/portfolio/11307

if our graphic designer is creating the pdf from Quark would it be easier for them to create the jpg images for each page from Quark rather than create a PDF.

      regards

    • If you have access to Adobe Acrobat Professional, it has a 'Save As' feature that the free reader does not. Save your files to about 20 different formats, including jpg and png. Works like a charm.
