    • Thanks Roland for the kind thoughts... it's nice to know others have me in their thoughts. It is very easy to feel alone or that the world just goes on without you... not missing a beat! You made me feel as though I wasn't forgotten.

      Update:

Yesterday, I began the last round of marrow and stem cell harvesting. This process consists of 4-8 injections a day to stimulate the bone-marrow to shift into "overdrive" and produce many more cells than would normally be needed. As you can imagine, when the marrow goes into "overdrive," it produces severe bone pain and at times the pain is intolerable. Thank goodness I have some really good pain medicine.

On May 14th, I am scheduled to be admitted into the isolation ward of Vanderbilt and will remain there for about 6-8 weeks. Also on the 14th, I am scheduled to begin the "high-dose" chemotherapy. This will last approximately 7 days. May 21st is the estimated "0" day (or the day in which you've have been determined to be "bottomed out") and then the process of rescuing you with the collected cells begins. The chemo is designed to take your body to the brink of death (if you can imagine) and then build you back up from scratch. A process not unlike rebooting your computer when it's not acting right.

I have a very good support network in place and the members of RTTC are a vital part of that network.

      Thanks again,

      Wage
