.htaccess redirect

Hi, I have a subdirectory of my website
dev.########.com
Now the folder for that subdirectory is actually at www.########.com/dev
How do I either...
a) stop access from www.########.com/dev
b) redirect it to dev.########.com

you are getting into muddy waters.
Why not pick one and go with it.
either make it a subdirectory
www.####.com/dev
or make it a subdomain
dev.####.com
Not try to make it do both. Is there a reason for doing it that way? -

sorry you misunderstud
When I created the subdomain my host but the folder for it in my main directory, which means that you can also access it by .com/dev
I want to either disable access this way or redirect it to dev.#######.com
