I have to reskin a Joomla 1.0.12. Yea, yea, I know but mine is not to wonder why, I'm just holding the horns.
The new design includes per section changes. In WordPress you can base new themes on existing themes, the new theme containing only the changes and over rides. Is it possible to do something like child themes in Joomla 1.0.x? Or in Joomla at all?
I'm spoiled by RT, Gantry and J1.5 were it is inherent. Seems like I had to replicate the entire theme last I worked in 1.0.x....

Personally, I'd move away from this project as fast as possible as 1.0x is obsolete....security and all that worthless BS....
Otherwise, standard 1.0x wisdom is to replicate/clone the template, change the color scheme and assign it per menu item...not pretty!
But there are a lot of threads on how to do this in the forums.
