How would you build such a website? What extensions?
Posted 14 years 5 months ago
Hi,
I just cant decide what I need and what would be the best way to achieve the end result I need.
Some important parameters for my website are SEO, Speed and Compatibility.
I am building a site that will have in the topmenu a guide, a review of different companies, a news section and a forum.
The guide will be in the frontend like this:
Guide
-Category1 (Shows Category description on top and then 2 column subcategories with description and read more)(my categories are the articles)
--Sub Category1 (Shows Category description on top and then 2 column subcategories with description and read more)
---Sub Sub Category1
---Sub Sub Category2
--...
-Category1
--Sub Category1
---Sub Category2
--...
The reviews should give the users to filter through specific criteria.

Hi Rich thanks for the tip,
But as you said the less extensions the better and Jreviews looks quite heavy and also is made of encrypted code that connects to their servers every two weeks for a license.
What do you think of this small extension do you think it will provide me a solution, any experience?

For the review section:
As I don't need users to post reviews but I need them to be able to to filter categories of reviews by different criteria's. I thought that this extension will give me the option to do so. So I will just buid my reviews with a simple article and add properties to them so my users will be able to filter search between them and I will add rokcomments so that my users will be able to comment on different reviews. How would I add a rating system to joomla articles?
For the guide section:
Should I use categories only to categorise the articles and then make an article with aida news in a module below the content. so it would look like a blog layout?
example:
category ( is an article with a content module on the bottom with subcategories intro text and read more)
Sub cat ( is an article with a content module on the bottom with subsubcat intro text and read more)
SubSub cat ( is an article with a content module on the bottom with sussubcat intro text and read more)
I want it too look like blog layout, but I dont have articles. And blog layout doesnt give me introtext with readmore on subcats and doesnt have subcats.
