CB Question - different data fields per different user groups

Hey everyone. First of all, community builder works rather well once you learn to use it. I do have one important question though on the usability aspect of maintaining different lists with different field options.
Lets say you have three groups, a general group, an athletes group, and a coaches group. Users can select which group they are to be placed in upon registration, however the two groups (athletes and coaches) need to be manually approved and upgraded from the "general" account.
The General users have the basic fields, username, first name, email, etc...
However, the two special groups coaches and athletes need to both have specific fields which will differ between the two groups... I need to have one set of fields for the athletes, and another set of fields for the coaches. How would I do this? Is there a plugin that will allow me to create different data fields per user group?
Its an athletic recruiting site, where college coaches can scout out NCAA players with ease, and i need to create a set of fields for the athletes that the coaches can search by, if needed, such as position, gpa, graduation year, Points per game, athletic rating, etc.
If anyone could help me figure out how to separate these fields per user groups I would greatly appreciate it, I think this is a core function that could be very useful.

I doubt it, but you are right it could be very useful.
You might need a custom plugin for that one. Or cruise the plugins on the joomla extensions site. Maybe there will be something there.
I would like something like this myself, to differentiate subscribers from normal registered people.
if you are using JACL, you could have a plugin that reacted to the user's access level and displayed certain fields. The logic for it is really very simple, but I have no idea off the top of my head how to code it.
Might be worth looking into though. -

- Bro, JACL was simply a lifesaver, definitely thank you!! I'm going to research this topic and should I find something, I will post it for the community as I feel many other than myself could use this to really maximize CB + JACL

I just remembered there is a CB component that allows you to register in different groups.
It was used to control the template that you see, but I am not sure if it also included extra fields, it -might- have.
It was mainly used for customizing your CB appearance though. But it might be worth a shot. I forget where I found it though. But somewhere on the extensions site. -

Very nice! Looks like this may remedy, contacted the plugin owner, once he replies I will purchase it for testing and implementation... I'll share my findings for you all here once this thing comes together. So far, JACL and CB work fine together, at least as far as I can test in the alpha stage right now. In the next few days I will have more in-depth technical findings to share with all of you.

Hey guys I emailed the creator of the plugin, Mikko... Attached is his response. John, we aren't in the cold (WHEW!)...
The stable version is expected to be ready within days, so I have
discontinued the beta. If it is relly urgent, you can buy the beta, but
I would recommend waiting for a few days.
If you purchase beta, you will get the updates to the stable version for
free.

Then you two my brave guinea pigs *coughs* I mean friends. Can test it for us and let us know how it works out, and if it allows custom fields or not.
The ability of it to display different templates depending on group is neat too. Could have a different template for coaches and athletes compared to the public. -
