How best to handle selling to US and UK from one site

Posted 14 years 4 months ago
    • Hi guys, just wanted to run this site by you and see what thoughts people had - I havn't got a great deal of experience of setting up a virtuemart/joomla site to sell to both US and the UK. At the moment the site is only selling to the UK. It is actually on a .com domain name, and enjoys just as good rankings on google.com as google.co.uk ... and is page 1 for a few keywords which convert. I'm now trying to open it up to the US, but want to offer the best user experience..

When users first land on the website....how can I ensure that it serves them best? Ie. products shown in their currency? SHould I configure VM to show both prices....or should I make use of the currency selector...(not too sure people always see it). The other option as I see it, is geo-targeting/pop-up to select the US or UK shop? But in this scenario, would I need two versions of the shop, residing in folders, like domainname.com/us/onlineshop and domainname.com/uk/onlineshop ? If anyone else has any pointers, would welcome them to save me muddling through, will continue researching tho. Thanks for reading :)
