As the topic suggests I have just purchased a brand new MacBook Pro. So Rocketeers...... Please tell me why I have made the best decision of my life. First impressions are, wow this thing is fast. Thge reason I purchased this thing in the first place was that everytime i loaded photoshop, dreamweaver and a couple of office packages it would try and take off and then shut down without warning.
Also should i install bootcamp, can anyone give me a justified reason for doing this.... I'm itching, please convince me otherwise.
Don't ask me.... And if you do, check the answer with someone who really knows
I've got Bootcamp, on a 50 gig partition. It should probably have been a bitt larger, I play my games from a USB 2-disk as for now. Although the MBP tend to get really hot in my lap, I have to play from time to time. There's not any application apart from games that I HAVE to run in Windows, so this partition is just for recreation. Still, I wouldn't want to be without it.
You've made your choice. I can assure you, you can crash both applications and the OS itself on a mac. Been there, done that. Mostly when using Final Cut Studio, Color, Motion, Compressor, PS, Illustrator, and some other heavyweights.
I second the gaming reason to install bootcamp. Your graphic card drivers will perform much better under windows. Crysis 2 is coming out next week, so you'll need all the horsepower you can squeeze out of your new rig. If you don't play games, you can run a virtual machine instead.
@posse, what I do for heat on my MBP is use smcFanControl to boost my fans to maximum (~6000 rpm), then reboot into Windows and it keeps the fans going full speed. That way, it doesn't get too crazy hot and I don't need to worry about frying my laptop or having the cpu start throttling itself down.
