    Does JoomlaHacks SMF bridge need a key to work?

    • I have spent the best part of a day installing and uninstalling the Joomla Hacks bridge. It always appeared to install perfectly as reported by the extension itself, but did not share any data.

      I noticed a key is requested via a donation - is this a pre-requisite for it to work? Not that I mind if it is - I just don't want to waste any more time or pay for a key if it isn't going to work.

      Yes - I do it all from the Linux command line, i.e. restoring the smf database into the Joomla database.

      Everything seems to progress fine - no error, everything reported as OK - it just doesn't work :)

      Then I noticed the key requirement and wondered if that is what makes it work?

    • It does not require the key.

      The component comes with a very good doc.
      If you follow the doc and don't skip any steps it will work fine.

      Biggest issue I have seen is users not putting in the correct path in the config, forgetting to "patch" the files via the admin config AND not replacing the login component with the bridge one.

      I did not use the bridge login component due to the options to use either Joomla or SMF which I assume must work on the basis they would not exist otherwise - I guess I had better give it a go with the bridge login and see what happens.
