Thought I'd share just in case anyone else was on the fence. Picked up a 20" widescreen Viewsonic to add to my 17" widescreen laptop to help with photo editing. (I'd been using my desktop for editing before).
I have to say that I'm not sure why I didn't do this when I started doing digital photography! I love being able to put the editing window on the 20" widescreen while the tools are on the 17" laptop screen.
I didn't go 22" because I've heard they haven't quite got the quality there, and I was on a budget. got the VX2035wm for $219 after some rebates at Circuit City. It is tack sharp and very bright. I had to scale it back on the brightness!
Here's a few photos of the setup.
1. The entire setup
2. Shows how bright the monitor is (It's toned down!!)
3. Shows the image editing window with the toolbars on the laptop screen
4. Shows the laptop screen and the the monitor.
Very nice! Now that is the way to do image editing, way cool!
Cheers Sean!

PS3 - why do you have that worthless piece of technology
James,
No, actually I like the split screen because I can have two Firefox screens open on the big screen and my Thunderbird open on the laptop screen. Don't have to minimize any windows.
You must be an XBOX person. Once you play the PS3 with an awesome game such as Resistance: Fall of Man, you'll see the difference!
