I'm totally new user of CB. Just installed and configured in my site. The first impression I have is very good and I think it's easy to manage. However, I saw the CB Documentation Subscription at joomlapolis. A doc with 120 pages! (anual subscription = 25€).
I would like to know what do you think about. It's necessary to have this doc? Perhaps there is A LOT of possibilities I can't imagine?
Well, if you are experienced with CB and/or you know this documentation please tell me
I will save 25€
I installed:
- your login version for colormatic/CB and I don't have time to thank you in the right thread! It working very well and if I have some time after, I will try to add the avatar in the login module.
- live user pro module
- Next step is to add captcha (do you think it's necessary? Do you use it?) and auto welcome plugins. I think it's not necessary at this time to add another plugin.
Now I need to understand how to work with tabs in profiles
Ive recently posted in the V3 tutorials thread the methodology in adding the RokLogin style button to CB which I use on my ShockTrooper site. This combines the community builder login's power with the styling of v3. This can be seen here

I tried captcha but for some reason it just did not work for me. It would have been a great feature if it worked. However, I am in a minority and if it works, I would use it. Extra security is always good
I only really use CB on Gaming/Clan sites that I do, I love doing them as most are smart enough to use FF so IE compatiblity isnt normally an issue. Below is a list of plugins I normally use
- Profile Book
- Latest View
- PMS plugin for uddelim
- phpbb connector (merged CB with phpbb forum)
- Default Articles plugin
If I use a SMF forum
- SMF plugin
- SMF profile
- SMF signature
- SMF Posts
- SMF info
Tabs are pretty easy to master. Try to image CB as this
Tabs are sections
Fields are categories
Categories go in sections therefore fields go into tabs.
sometimes when extensions are really good and in the case of community builder, are the difference between your site being successful or not, it's sometimes worth considering paying a little to say thank you and to support further development

Make a donation is always a good thing to help development. I totally agree with you. However, in this particular case I would like to know if it's necessary to purchase an e-book to understand how CB works and it's another matter
I paid the subscription to CB to get the documentation,,, I did so more as a support gesture,,, but hoesntly... there was nothing there that I coulnt have figured out myself....eventually

Hi CG Icon! Thanks for your informations. For sure I will support CB development but in another way; simply by making a donation if I decide to use CB in the future.
