Who do you use for hosting your Joomla site?

Posted 14 years 3 weeks ago
    • So I'm using a RocketTheme template for my Joomla sites, but they are running slow. It took 20 minutes for an email to be sent to my inbox from a contact form today. I'm currently hosted on Go Daddy but I'm debating on switching to somebody that can offer faster services.

Any recommendations on what everyone else is using?

    • HostGator.
I had several sites with BlueHost, but recently switched when looking for a better solution for a client. Their support is awesome and I don't experience the same delays/lag that I see with my Blue Host sites. I even notice speed improvements when using FTP.
Their prices for shared hosting are very economical.
      Hope this helps.

    • I am NOT an affiliate and will make no money on this plug. LOL!

I've used these guys for several years now. Only had one incident and that was due to my ignorance on the matter. Friendly, knowledgeable support, 24/7 service, great rate ($1.99/mo. for long term). Unlimited domains, sub-domains, storage limits are truly unlimited with only 1 or 2 exceptions (which are quite reasonable) and unlimited bandwith.

And here's the kicker: They are FANTASTIC in a crisis!

    • Hostgator has been bulletproof for me. If I was to move to a different host it would be Rochen , they host the official Joomla site.

      Cheers

    • I'd like to add this:

Your hosting needs will vary from that of others. Dependent upon the type site you will have, you may or may not need secure hosting. The "level" of tech support you can receive over the phone is also crucial. If all you can get is "Level 1" you may want to investigate a more support oriented site who specializes in Joomla, such as Rochen mentioned above.

If your tech support staff isn't fluent in Joomlaspeak, and you aren't either, you may have difficulties with the administration as your site grows, or worse, with security issues which can render you dead in the water without proper setup. The documentation at docs.joomla.org/ is extensive and quite specific. If you haven't taken advantage of this extensive and ever expanding resource, you should. It will help you determine your needs prior to entering a contract with a hosting provider.

If I were you, I'd spend a good deal of time looking around on your own once you determine your needs. To do that, you'll need a working knowledge of hosting and what is involved on your end.

      Good luck!
      Carol
