One word of advice - a classical guitar with nylon strings (bottom 3) is MUCH easier on the fingers and thus can be easier to learn on.
The trade off is, a classical guitar has a considerably wider neck, generally has less frets (shorter neck) and is somewhat more quiet in sound than a steel string strung flat top.
