Meta Tags to Head of One Page only?

Posted 13 years 10 months ago
    • Hi Gang,

So, I know how to edit the index to add meta tags to all pages... my question today is -
How to add meta tags to only one page?

You see, I'm trying to add the facebook like button to one of my pages, and using the generic code it grabs the wrong thing for the title. The solution is to add meta tags to the page to dictate the title, url, etc. ...but I'd only want to add these tags to the ONE page.

I don't think this question is specific to the template I'm using, as I'd want to know for many different sites also.

(I'd be really nice if one could just make a new module to do this... but I may be dreaming.)

      Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is the page it's for (...but I doubt that matters):

    • Hi, I believe that the Meta info in the Global Configuration is a default, you can override the default by using the Meta info in the Article parameters. In my experience, if you have a page that is a single article, Facebook will grab the meta info from the article, if there is no info, it grabs the Global settings. It depends on what kind of page you have, just be sure to fill in meta in your articles, components and anywhere else you can.
    • The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

    • Perhaps you didn't actually read my question details...
I do know how to use the built-in Joomla features to add title, keywords, description, and author tags per article.
What I want to do is insert additional tags (to one page only) for the purpose of customizing the facebook like button...

    • I did read your post, it's a bit confusing though. Do you mean you want to change the meta tags in the actual Facebook like box itself on one page - like in the Open Graph Tags documentation? At any rate, I don't believe you can accomplish this with Joomla's core settings, you might want to check the JED for a plug-in that enables you to set this. I took a quick look, found this, maybe it's a solution? http://magneticmerchandising.com/cms153/jfacebook/comments-jfacebook-opengraph-module
