Is this an SEF problem?

    • I would suggest to try all and see which you like or works for you most.

As for me I started out with OpenSEF when it was RC4 didn't like it, it was buggy and to complicated I needed a simple solution but there was none (except SEF Advance haven't used it cause I don't like encryption), than came ArtioSEF also known as JoomSEF tried it, it was what I was looking for a simple solution so I changed to ArtioSEF but soon I found out they insert advertisement link so I switched back to OpenSEF now RC5 but it still was buggy than came sh404SEF switched to it and have never looked back, the support and component is excellent, try it.

There is another one too JPromoter it is $25 have read good things about it, you could try it and give feedback.

You can read about all SEFs and comparison at Alledia

    • I will never use NuSEF it was very low and sneaky of the developer to do that without permission of Marco, a fine example of why developers don't want GPL.

Oh and I know it was without permission cause Marco stated that in another forum.

I have SEF running on my local windows system using WAMP

Thanks Peter, thats good to know. Can anyone else here confirm it works on xampp?

Yes, It works on XAMPP... ate least according from one of the users of the Artio forums.

I ask for the solution when I had the problem and this was the answer:

      www.artio.cz/en/support-forums/joomla-ex...nal-sever-error/view

I didn't test the solution yet... mostly because I dont want to install again XAMPP and Joomla on my computer in case doesnt works... :-\

      For Peter Osipof:

Many thanks for your tips and share your experience using sh404SEF ... So, you are a happy user... that is good :)

I think I will give it a try just for your comments about it ;D

      Cya guys

      Take care

    • Back to my original question ... I've still not solved the problem with the modules not showing as I want them too.
Thinking it was a problem with the SEF component, I have uninstalled it but I'm still finding that some modules won't show when they are set to; specifically,

On www.watersavers-autosave.co.uk/content/view/16/43/ the module can be seen as it should be.

Yet when the page is accessed via the 'read more' link, www.watersavers-autosave.co.uk/content/view/16/42/ the module is not showing.

I've tried various ways of making a new menu item (content item link, url link) and none of them are showing the module when it's set to show with the menu item.

      Any suggestions please?
      Jon

    • Let's trouble shoot, 'Products -> Discharge Valve -> ADV-100' is OK but where is the other link, how do you get to the second link and what type of module it is.

    • Many thanks Peter,

The module is a custom, user type. The link which doesn't show the module is accessed fro the category blog link "Discharge Valve" in the Products drop-down. Surely the module should show when the 'read more' link is made?

    • I was able to recreate the problem unfortunately I don't think there is a solution for it unless you publish the module in 'Discharge Valve' menu item too which you don't want, have you posted over at Joomla forum.

    • Thanks Peter,
I'd be interested to know how you got the 'read more' link to activate the module? But it still doesn't work right, as in the blog link won't show the module. The Products menu should be really simple ie Section List > Category Blog > Items ... and each should reach the item with the module showing.
I've posted to the Joomla forum ... we'll see what they say.

I very much appreciate your input, you've made a lot of effort to help. Thanks

I don't have any module published in blog.

As for the 'read more' link go to Run Digital and grab read more v1.4 plugin install it than disable Joomla!'s build in read more option and you'll have the look you want.
