Content directory and Downloads

  • Content directory and Downloads

    • Hi!

I do finally have time to make the website I want to do!!

I need your help because I need components for this:

      - Downloads: which component you think is better? Why? Is it the one you use?
      - Organising content: for example, if you have a music site and you want to have a lot of biographies, how would you organize it? Would the biographies be a static content? And is there any component that helps you to organize all this? (only free ones) What do you think about it? Do you use it? Why?

You guys would help me a lot! ;)

    • I much prefer Remository over DOCman for a download. I found DOCman to be pains at times :) Remository is easier to skin ;D

    • Remository is my choice too. The only thing docman has going for it is that you can download directly from the main listing. But remos usually requires you go into the item.

It makes downloading lots of things at once a hassle.

      Why only free things?

    • Thank you for the answers! I'll look for Remository! Don't you have something to organize content?

Daniel, I'll mainly look for free things because I'm not a developper, I don't earn money with this and on the other hand, I don't have much money to spend :-\

    • I only knew of DOCman and remository, not any commerical ones ;D

I may want to go for content items over static for what you want. You could then easily structure them. But either, both are pretty versatile.

    • Do you know sobi2? Have you ever tried it? It's used on www.bestofjoomla.com/ and has a very good layout in my opinion ???

    • Ah yeah, forgot about thoses ;D I would not buy them as they are overkill for my sites which are not download centers shall we say :)

    • Oh, didn't see it ;D

OK, I'll go for Remository finally, thanks for your help!!

On the other hand, returning to organizing content, I'm talking about organizing hundreds of biographies, if I have to do it manually it's gonna be horrible! :'(
Is there anything, any component? :-[

    • You can organise them into categories and sections if you use content items.

I am unaware of a component.
