change 'Submit News' - how to?

    • Hi all,

since I'm not sure what exactly I'm asking for pls feel free to move this thread to another forum if necessary.

By default the user menu comes with the option 'Submit News' with the link
      http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=new&sectionid=1&Itemid=0
displaying a new content item form with a list of categories associated with the news section to choose from

since I'd like each of the segments available from the panel to come with its own blog (for blogging) I thought it might work by adding a news category for each of them:

      section ID1: news
      associated category IDs:
      1: latest news
      13: chrissy's blog
      14: neptunesuzy's blog
      15: grizzelda's blog

what I would like to achieve is that
submit news opens new content form for category ID 1 (no category list)
submit blog entry to open new content form for category ID 13 OR 14 OR 15 - depending on the user currently logged in

submit news should be available for managers and admins only / specific backend users only (not just special)
submit blog entry for category ID13 should be available for user chrissy only
submit blog entry for category ID14 should be available for user neptunesuzy only
submit blog entry for category ID15 should be available for user grizzelda only

would that be possible at all?
if so where would I start?
      ???

    • yes I was 'thinking' of one but searching for 'joomla' and 'blog' is not exactly returning satisfying results. ::)

thus the idea with the workaround...

    • I've now played around with your suggestions for quite a bit

BLOGG-X appears to be neat. only since it requires my server login/pw I suppose I won't be able to offer it to others for use (creators/members available from top panel). is that impression correct?

I also installed Mamblog. looks neat. I can add menu items to creatorX menus linking to that member's blog. would there be a 'my latest blog entries' module available? I didn't see any but I might just as well have overlooked something.

Since I would also like to have a commenting system I tried AkoComment and came across some major probs. saving adjusted settings clears them all with the sole exception of the sections chosen for commenting. I tried both ako comments and ako comments plus but couldn't get config adjustments to save. another issue is that after clicking the comments link on a blog entry the commenting window is not opening

the other commenting systems available from the Mamblog backend - ComboLITE/ ComboMAX/ MX Comment - I couldn't even find them thus no idea if any of these would work properly

I meant to try J!Reactions but skipped it since its not mentioned as one of the options in Mamblog's backend...

I've also read all the descriptions about My Blog and Jom Comment. looks like the blogging features above are also available here plus a latest blog entries module and rss feeds. since these come with commercial licences does anybody know if that impression is correct? would be neat to know prior to grabbing them...

I do have some concerns with regards to its compatibility though.
extensions I intend to be using (once available/ there): roklatest/ rokslide/ rokzoom/ SEF (openSEF appears to be the one with the most positive referrals in here...)
would anybody know if any of the above blogging/commenting systems are compatible with VIII and the above extensions?
