This whole "changing hosts" thing is turning into a huge soap opera...
First, thanks for the help/advice/commentary I've received thus far. You all have saved my skin (and my few remaining hairs) a few times!
Now on to the latest.
I decided to scrap the "copy just the necessary tables" idea and had the new host mirror my existing site. But, they didn't modify all the paths to change from my old host's username to the username I am using at the new host. The biggest issue was with my SMF installation. So, I have been manually changing the paths to reflect the correct location...
My SMF themes were not displaying - and to make things really interesting, I ran the NS change but it has not yet propagated to my own ISP - although most other people are seeing the new host. Makes for quite a challenge in administering!
Anyway - I had a cohort correct the theme paths, which resulted in a veritable mess that looks something like this:
Notice: Undefined index: lang_character_set in /home/<mysite>/public_html/4um/Sources/Load.php on line 1432

I posted at Simplemachines, but no responses yet.
How bad is it, doc? Should I just shave clean and get it over with? Is there some miracle Rogaine-like solution or insight that someone can offer? Should I just change my nameservers back, turn my computer off, and take up knitting?
Thanks!
