{ SOLVED } Google Maps Plugin

  • { SOLVED } Google Maps Plugin

Posted 13 years 2 weeks ago
    • Hi,

Trying to find a simple but effective google maps plugin (or similar) for my Joomla site. (Camber template).. haven't had much luck trying to do it with a custom html module. Any advice appreciated.

    • Phoca Maps. I've tried every single one and I always come back to that one, seems to work the best for me.

    • Hi Again,

Do you prefer the component or the plugin?

    • Just install them both, if you use the component alone you have to assign the map to a menu item, the plugin allows you to put it in an article or module.

    • That one is good, I've used that before on 1.5 websites - if you look close, they don't have a 1.7 version as of yet, which is why I went back to Phoca Maps. Phoca is the only one I can get working consistently, the documentation is pretty good, you just have to deal with their powered by footer link, it's the only downside to all Phoca products. They'll help you remove it for a small fee, I usually don't even care.

Plugin (Mambot) for displaying one or more Google Maps within content-items, modules or components of Joomla 1.5.x (native), 1.6.x and 1.7.x.

I havent tried this on 1.7 yet but it says on opening line its 1.7 compatible?

    • The little icons for the version number on the page don't have a 1.7 logo and I couldn't find a 1.7 version on their site. Last time I checked was a few weeks back but I couldn't find it, that was my experience with it. I went through about 5 different map plugs before installing Phoca which worked the first time with little effort. This is just my experience and opinion for what it's worth.
