Okay, we all know that when you are putting a site together for a customer, you need to ask MANY questions in order to make sure you meet their expectations for content, needs, etc.
What I would like to know is:
1. What kind of questions do those of you that build for customers ask? Do you have a general series of questions you use to get started? If so, do you mind sharing them?
2. What types of information do you think the customer should provide (i.e. What information will help create a more solid and useful site)?
3. What things might you consider the most important issues to consider when building a site for a customer?
I suppose the basis for this post is that I am in a relatively small town (approx 40,000 people) and am trying to get a grip on some of the business in the town. There are three or four local site design businesses, so I am not afraid of a flooded market. Not to mention that only one or two of them do work that I would consider quality. I have also considered a different approach to their sales strategy and since this is not my primary source of income, I feel I can be successful at my venture. I have made several sites by charging based on time, but am considering offering a fixed price design plan with limits for a general package. Anyone else doing this? Make your money back through hosting and add-ons?
Feel free to provide more tips or ask some other questions.
