Page Name in URL. How to do this?

- Hi,
  
  My content and category page URLs look like this:
  breslow.com/content/view/17/1/
  
  but I would like them to be this:
  breslow.com/content/view/17/1/deck-and-patio-awnings.htm
  
  I would like this for search engine purposes (as well to improve my ability to analyze web traffic - hard to make sense of page numbers).
  
  Can anyopne recommend an extension to help with this?
  and #2) I am concerned that when I implement the extension external links I have coming to our website will break, so I would like the existing link structure to still work. How can I do this?

- Go to extensions.joomla.org, there are a fair few SEO extensions such as OpenSEF.

- How will this affect our existing links, and any external links that people have created linking back to our website?
  I want to switch, but I don't want to lose what we've already built.

- The link such as index.php?option=com_content..... will still work.

- what about these types of links?
  breslow.com/content/view/17/1/
  
  these are the types of links we've had for a while. if they won't, how do I managw the transition?

- Hmmm, im not sure if it will translate those links but I would not see why not. Do a test locally and see if the /content/view links translate in your browser to the new ones.

- You can always just place those links in your .htaccess file do a rewrite.

- I did this for a clients site the other day.
  
  heres what I did
  
  Redirect permanent /content/view/17/1/ breslow.com/content/view/17/1/deck-and-patio-awnings.htm
  etc
  etc
  
  There might be a better way to do it but this worked fine for me.

- And do I create another page called deck-and-patio-awnings.htm? or is the code change simply renaming the existing page?

- Would pay to install a sef url extention but save your old urls first - Then direct them to the new url extention (made via the sef component) by using the above code in your .htaccess file
