Re: Display problems in recent versions

    • I don't know if it's just me, or if it's something different in recent versions of Joomla.

I'm having problems with modules appearing on all pages, despite the fact that I only want them to appear on the home page.

When a story is clicked on to veiw and read, all the homepage modules above the main content is showing.

I noticed this problem in the last few versions of Joomla. Is it just me, or is there a way not to show modules above my main story content.

In the admin area of the module page, I have selected to only show on the main menu home, but modules appear on the content page.

      Any help appreciated.

    • Are you referring to when you select Read More?

    • Hi James S!,

No, I was referring to modules, such as latest news, showing up on all pages, even though I had them set to only display on the main home page.

      However, I solved the problem.

It's related to unpublishing the "NEWS" link in the main menu. The "News" link is unpublished, the entire display scheme of the modules doesn't work correctly.

    • Welcome to the itemid from hell.

      forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,125365.0.html  ; (Read 56980 times)

They changed the behavior in 1.0.12. Now in 1.0.13 there's a switch in the global config and you can change it back to behave like 1.0.11, or keep 1.0.12 which is how it might work in 1.5.0, unless it's Tuesday after sunset then it will work like 1.6.01, and every other Thursday it will work like 1.0.10 if it's raining, at the server location, not your own.

    • Well I thought I had the problem solved, but it still persists for the most part. I'm using the 1.0.13 and it isn't fixed...

    • There is an option to change the itemid in Global Configuration, I believe.

    • Yes, in the global config.

Caution: If you upgraded your site from any version prior to 1.0.12, don't flip this switch. Meaning, if your site was originally 1.0.11 or earlier, and you upgraded it to 1.0.12, and then to 1.0.13, don't flip this switch. Trust me, I ended up restoring from backup. It was nothing short of another nightmare.

    • I applied that fix and it seems to be working. It's a fresh install so it wasn't effected by upgraded code irregularities.

Thanks for the help, everything seems to be working like it used to now. But for how long? ;D
