Help with uploading downloadable files pllease

Hi everyone, I know that you all are gonna groan at this but I am as wet as a rainy day in September when it comes to web building. Could some kind soul please tell me where to upload my downloadable zip files to :'(
I have tried to upload them to my Media files but it says that it is the wrong type of file and can't seem to find anywhere in the control panel for this function. I can access my web ftp but there isn't a suitable file there also. Sorry everyone!

- In the administrator, go to installers - Template - site. Here you can browse for the zipfile and upload it. Next go to site - template manager - site, here you can set the new template as default.
- I use simplix, does this mean that I'm a simple guy ?

- Thank you for your reply Robbie but I must have not explained myself correctly. I want to upload a zip file for other people to be able to download. It is not the site theme, just a general downloadable zip file. Thank you

If you can't upload it through ftp, try installing extplorer:
extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,2630/Itemid,35/
With this extension you have a complete filemanager in your backend. - I use simplix, does this mean that I'm a simple guy ?
