  • Is this a permission issue?

    • Hello

      I am updating the JCE editor in a site I built for someone a while ago, I have downloaded the file (Im using Linux) but downlaoded both Tar and zip files. When I try to install to Joomla backend I get this message



      JFolder::create: Could not create directory
      Warning! Failed to move file.
      JFile::read: Unable to open file: '/var/www/vhosts/ecstelecoms.co.uk/httpdocs/tmp/com_jce_2272.tar.gz'
      Unable to read archive

      Im thinking it is down to permission issues and so I am waiting on access to host files. but i thought i would ask you guys incase it is something else

    • Check your folder permissions here:
      Admin -> Site -> System Information -> Directory Permissions to ensure there writable.

      Other than that check that Admin -> Site -> Global Configuration -> Server -> Server Settings -> Path to Temp-folder -> my-path/tmp
      Admin -> Site -> System Information -> Configuration File -> Server Settings ->tmp_path = my-path/tmp actually are identical.

      You could always extract the file - upload via FTP - then use in Extension Manager the Install from TMP Directory dialogue.
