Mashups - Anyone had any experience?

Hello
I have been looking at the possibility of creating a site using what is known as 'Mashups' or the use of data from other sources and websites and presenting them in a new format.
Has anyone done this at all?
Did you look at adding value or making money from it?
Did you code yourself or use an outside firm maybe from Guru or freelancer?
Do Mashups work with Joomla?
Any help will be good here thanks

Hi Igor, companies such as Amazon allow access to their databases and so you can use their data and present it as your own. coders can also do what they call 'screen scrapes' were data is taken without permission.
Im not an expert in this at all, but there are lots of sites that are created using soley data from other sites, blogs etc and presented in a new way for a target market
