Flushing dns cache

  • Flushing dns cache

    • Does anyone know of any tricks to get the DNS information flushed from a computer? I have went to the dos prompt and did an ipconfig/flushdns and tried clearing information out of firefox to no luck.

I changed the DNS servers for my site and can see the site on the new hosting from another computer, but not mine.

      Any ideas?

    • I just did and no change, of course this is something new for me. I added the ip address and a space followed by the name. I hope this is correct?

This is just crazy, I remember once before this happened, but my IT guy who is no longer got it working. How - I don't know. :)

    • sorry about the confusion William D, I was checking if you may have happen to add that domain name in the host file before otherwise remove it "and the answer is NO because you added a new one".

      1) Have you tried clearing you browser's cache?

      2) Was this other computer in the same network as you are now? DNS change could take some time (24 hr) to replicate.

Other than that I could not think anything else.

    • Yes, the computer is on the same network. It just hadn't been to that site in awhile.

I guess I will have to wait for a full populate of the domain. :)

    • Well it actually updated on the other computers tonight. Guess I shouldn't be so impatient. :)
